ROUTING LOGIC

Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.

01
Day 1

The Roman centre and its literary afterlife

Piazza Bra → Arena → Erbe/Signori → Juliet → hotel → central dinner

  1. Breakfast at Caffè Wallner

Use the published Tuesday–Friday morning service and allow 45 minutes. On Monday, or an unconfirmed weekend, arrange breakfast at Flego’s Via Roma branch in advance or eat at your accommodation before departure.

  2. Arena entry

Walk 10–15 minutes and allow 20 minutes for entry. Spend 60–90 minutes inside. Monday or event closure: make an exterior circuit and extend the old-town walk.

  3. Erbe and Signori

Walk 20–25 minutes, then explore selected corners of the linked squares for 45 minutes. Leave 15–20 minutes to lunch.

  4. Lunch at Antica Bottega del Vino

Reserve a 90-minute meal during the daily lunch window.

  5. Optional reserved Juliet visit

Walk 15–20 minutes to the Teatro Nuovo entrance on Piazzetta Navona and arrive early for your actual slot. Allow 45–75 minutes; without a reservation, walk the surrounding lanes rather than joining a presumed free courtyard queue.

  6. Hotel and rest

Allow 20–40 minutes back to your accommodation, then a substantial break.

  7. Dinner at al Pompiere

Reserve Monday–Saturday. Sunday: Du de Cope is the nearby dinner alternative; allow 20–30 minutes from a central hotel.

02
Day 2

Art and the western neighborhoods

Piazza Bra → Castelvecchio → central lunch → San Zeno → river → dinner

  1. Breakfast at Flego, Via Roma

Confirm the branch opens for your morning; allow 45 minutes and use accommodation breakfast if it does not. Walk 15–20 minutes to the museum area.

  2. Castelvecchio

Allow two hours in the museum and 20 minutes for the bridge. Closed Monday: use the bridge, western lanes and a longer San Zeno afternoon instead.

  3. Lunch at Du de Cope

Allow 25–35 minutes from the museum area and 75–90 minutes for pizza. Wednesday closure: reserve Antica Bottega del Vino nearby at the same time.

  4. San Zeno

Allow 35–45 minutes west on foot or by bus, including waiting. Visit for 60–75 minutes after checking church access; this afternoon plan also fits the restricted October 9, 2026 window. If services intervene, linger on the piazza and return later.

  5. River walk and rest

Take a short daylight riverside walk, then allow 30–45 minutes back to your hotel. Skip the walk in bad weather.

  6. Dinner at Antica Bottega del Vino

Reserve the daily dinner service; leave 20–30 minutes from a central hotel.

03
Day 3

Roman theatre and the northern river bend

Central breakfast → Roman Theatre → Ponte Pietra lunch → San Pietro → rest → dinner

  1. Breakfast at Flego, Corso Porta Borsari

Confirm morning service; allow 45 minutes, with accommodation breakfast as the early-opening fallback. Walk north and across Ponte Pietra in 30–40 minutes.

  2. Roman Theatre and Archaeological Museum

Allow two hours. On Monday, replace the closed museum with a northern riverside walk and move any interior visit to an open day.

  3. Lunch at Ristorante Ponte Pietra

Descend and cross the river with 30–45 minutes for photographs and the approach. Reserve Monday–Saturday. Sunday: walk 25–35 minutes farther to Antica Bottega del Vino for a 13:30 booking.

  4. Castel San Pietro panorama

After a 90-minute lunch, allow 30–45 minutes to the funicular approach, including the longer Sunday return. Check the actual last descent; spend up to an hour at the viewpoint. Wind, rain or a stopped funicular: stay at the lower riverside instead.

  5. Return and rest

Allow 30–45 minutes back to a central hotel; this is not a castle-interior appointment.

  6. Dinner at Du de Cope

Reserve if available; Wednesday closure: use Antica Bottega del Vino’s dinner service.

04
Day 4

Garden geometry and a final Gothic interior

Veronetta garden → central lunch → Sant’Anastasia → rest → regional dinner

  1. Breakfast at Flego, Via Stella

Confirm morning opening and allow 45 minutes; otherwise eat at your accommodation. Cross into Veronetta with 30–40 minutes for the walk and entry.

  2. Giardino Giusti

Allow two hours, keeping the upper terraces optional. Closed or unsafe weather: use an available civic museum on Tuesday–Sunday; Monday use the central lanes and a longer café stop.

  3. Lunch at al Pompiere

Allow 35–45 minutes across the river and reserve a 90-minute lunch. Sunday closure: Antica Bottega del Vino at the same time.

  4. Sant’Anastasia

Walk 20–25 minutes north and allow 15 minutes for entry; spend about an hour inside. Worship or closure: take a final Ponte Pietra riverside walk.

  5. Rest and optional pastry

Flego is a convenient stop if its current branch hours permit; allow 30–45 minutes back to your hotel and keep the late afternoon free.

  6. Dinner at al Bersagliere

Use confirmed Tuesday–Friday kitchen service, or Saturday only after direct confirmation. Sunday/Monday and any unconfirmed Saturday: reserve Antica Bottega del Vino instead. Allow 20–35 minutes from central accommodation.

DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM

Four ways travelers exhaust Verona.

Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.

Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.

Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.

Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
