Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
A complete coastal city sampler
Coal Harbour → Stanley Park → downtown waterfront → Gastown
Breakfast near Coal Harbour
Eat before the park; allow 20–30 minutes from the hotel to the chosen seawall start.
Stanley Park short segment
Walk from Coal Harbour toward Brockton Point and return or exit on a planned path; allow two hours. Check closures and shorten for rain or mobility needs.
Allow 30–45 minutes by bus/walk; do not extend the route into the full perimeter by accident.
JAPADOG lunch
Use an operating downtown branch and allow an hour including the final walk; confirm its address before leaving the park.
Waterfront and Gastown
Walk 20–30 minutes toward Waterfront/Water Street, then spend 60–90 minutes on architecture and shops. In sustained rain, shorten the route and use covered café time.
Miku early dinner
Reserve the waterfront restaurant and allow 15–25 minutes from Gastown. A clear day needs no additional paid viewpoint to feel complete.
02
Day 2
False Creek food and the south-side city
Granville Island → Fairview → Cambie / Main Street
Lee’s Donuts at Granville Island
Allow 35–50 minutes by bus/walk from downtown, or check a small-ferry sailing and accessibility. Have a doughnut and coffee after the market opens.
Studios and Public Market
Spend two hours browsing artisan spaces and the market. Individual studios may be closed even when the market is open.
The Vancouver Fish Company lunch
Reserve or check walk-in availability for a sit-down seafood lunch on Granville Island and allow an hour. If not serving, choose an operating Public Market counter before starting the shore walk.
Walk a 60–90 minute accessible segment toward Charleson Park, checking open paths; stop at a café if it is wet.
Fairview pause
Allow 20–30 minutes uphill or by bus toward Broadway; retain a hotel or café rest rather than adding another ticketed attraction.
Salmon n’ Bannock dinner
Reserve the Broadway bistro. If it is not serving that day, use Vij’s in Cambie Village with a 20–30 minute transfer and confirmed table policy.
03
Day 3
UBC culture and a western-city afternoon
Downtown → Museum of Anthropology → UBC → Kitsilano
Breakfast and UBC transfer
Allow 65–85 minutes by bus plus campus walking from central Vancouver; use the live trip planner.
Museum of Anthropology
Start at the published opening and give the museum three hours. MOA lists Monday closures October 15–May 15; move this day if affected and check holiday exceptions.
Use the museum’s Cedar Café and allow an hour; verify service for your date. Mercante on campus is a backup with a 20–30 minute walk and its own opening hours.
Choose a short UBC walk and an accessible viewpoint; the long stairs to Wreck Beach are not a necessary part of this route. Rain means more museum time where the ticket allows.
Kitsilano transfer and pause
Allow 40–55 minutes by bus to Kitsilano, then a beach-front walk if conditions suit. Allow another 30–45 minutes for the return toward downtown.
Kissa Tanto dinner
Reserve in Chinatown and allow the full city transfer before arrival; ask about access to the upstairs room when booking.
Allow 45–60 minutes for the North Shore bus and queue at the base; check live lift and weather information first.
Mountain lunch and activities
Allow four hours for lift access, lunch at an operating mountain outlet and seasonal activities. If cloud or operations make the mountain poor value, stay in Lower Lonsdale for lunch and a longer waterfront walk instead.
Allow 90–120 minutes by bus, SeaBus and the final walk. Do not add Capilano to this route as another compulsory stop.
Published on Main final dinner
Reserve only if the return buffer is comfortable; allow 30–45 minutes from downtown to Main Street. A canceled mountain plan still leaves a complete SeaBus and neighborhood day.
DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM
Four ways travelers exhaust Vancouver.
Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.
Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.
Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.
Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
