Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
River crossing and castle bank
Charles Bridge → Újezd → Hradčany → Malá Strana
Charles Bridge after daylight
Walk across before the main tour flow; move this later in dark or icy winter conditions.
Café Savoy breakfast
Allow a 15–20-minute walk via the river and reserve if this meal matters.
Transit toward Prague Castle
Allow 30–45 minutes including the final approach and security; do not add a strenuous climb after breakfast.
Castle circuit including St Vitus
Allow about three hours and adjust for services or official restrictions. If interiors close, use the precinct and move the paid visit.
Kuchyň lunch
Reserve a late table or choose an open café; confirm kitchen service fits your slot.
Descend through Malá Strana
Allow an hour with rests, then hotel time.
Dinner near your accommodation
Avoid crossing back to the castle for another reservation.
02
Day 2
Old Town and Jewish history
Old Town Square → Josefov → Dlouhá
Breakfast and Old Town Square
Spend about an hour on the square and adjacent streets without waiting repeatedly for the clock.
Jewish Museum route
Plan three hours across the open sites. On Saturday or a Jewish holiday, swap this entire day with Day 3.
Naše maso or a Dlouhá lunch
Walk about 10–15 minutes; select a seated alternative if the counter is crowded.
River-side pause
Keep the afternoon gentle after the memorial and cemetery.
Hotel break
Reserve attention for the evening rather than adding another major collection.
Lokál or La Degustation
Choose one: a pub meal or a reserved tasting evening, not both.
03
Day 3
New Town and the southern fortress
National Museum → New Town → Vyšehrad
Breakfast near Wenceslas Square
Allow 30 minutes to reach the museum area.
National Museum
Choose two to three hours of galleries; children’s timed admission is a separate decision.
Kantýna lunch
Walk roughly 15 minutes downhill into New Town.
Transfer toward Vyšehrad
Allow 30–45 minutes by metro/tram plus the entrance walk.
Ramparts and cemetery
Two hours is enough for a grounds route. In heavy rain, remain with indoor collections rather than forcing the hill.
Early dinner at U Kroka
Reserve and check service; allow time to descend safely.
Transit back
Choose the tram or metro approach suited to your hotel.
04
Day 4
Contemporary art and northern neighborhoods
Karlín → Holešovice → Letná
Eska breakfast
Check current Karlín service; a nearby bakery is the fallback if closed.
Travel to Holešovice
Allow 40–50 minutes including interchange, waiting and walking.
DOX
Two to three hours; Monday is closed, so swap with a National Museum day. Check playroom availability for children.
DOX café or nearby lunch
Allow an hour and confirm the café’s meal offer.
Tram toward Letná
Allow 25–40 minutes and choose an approach avoiding riverside steps.
Letná panorama and park
One to two hours if weather permits; a neighborhood café replaces it in rain.
Final neighborhood dinner
Return toward your hotel or a reserved central table, leaving time to pack.
DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM
Four ways travelers exhaust Prague.
Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.
Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.
Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.
Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
