Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
Use the current hotel café or The Dining Room for a more substantial breakfast.
Casco plazas
Spend two hours around Plaza Herrera, the cathedral area and Plaza de Francia, with shaded breaks.
Mahalo lunch
Use a confirmed Cocina y Jardín table; The Dining Room is the nearby alternative with lunch service.
Hotel and heat break
Leave the early afternoon unscheduled; rain can shift the outdoor block.
Cinta Costera
Allow 20–40 minutes by road to the chosen waterfront section, then walk for an hour if weather permits.
Fonda Lo Que Hay dinner
Allow 20–40 minutes back to Casco and check the table arrangement. Closed Monday: use The Dining Room instead.
02
Day 2
Amador and the working canal
Biomuseo → Albrook → Miraflores
Breakfast and westbound transfer
Eat at the hotel; allow 30–60 minutes by road to Amador and a short causeway view before museum entry.
Biomuseo
Two hours fit both weekday and weekend opening. Monday: move the museum to an open day and keep a short causeway outing or a later start.
El Trapiche Albrook lunch
Allow 30–45 minutes from Amador, then a full hour for the meal at the branch outside the mall.
Miraflores Visitor Center
Allow 30–45 minutes transfer plus entry. Use the current film schedule and viewing time until about 17:00; ship passage is not guaranteed.
Return with traffic allowance
Budget 45–90 minutes to the hotel and leave dinner flexible if traffic grows.
The Dining Room dinner
A confirmed Casco table works for a Casco base; guests elsewhere should eat near their hotel rather than cross back unnecessarily.
03
Day 3
Forest edge and the original city
Metropolitan park → Panamá Viejo → San Francisco
Breakfast and park transfer
Arrange an early hotel breakfast and allow 30–45 minutes to the park entrance.
Metropolitan park
Ask staff for a two-hour route suitable for weather and mobility; use a shorter paved option if needed.
Panamá Viejo
Allow 45–75 minutes road time after the park and two hours for the ruins and museum. Monday: swap with an open day; do not arrive at a closed site.
Nikos Calle 50 lunch
Allow 30–60 minutes from the ruins and order a cooked meal at the Vía Israel intersection branch.
Hotel rest
Leave the afternoon clear after two outdoor visits.
Maito reserved dinner
Allow 30–60 minutes for the actual hotel-to-Coco del Mar route. If Sunday or no suitable service, use Nikos or El Trapiche Vía Argentina and reserve Maito for another evening.
04
Day 4
A separate rainforest morning
Hotel → selected Soberanía trail → city
Prepared breakfast and pickup
Confirm food and water the previous evening. Allow 60–90 minutes to the guide’s agreed trail entrance; specific access permission controls departure.
Guided forest outing
Reserve about 3–3.5 hours on one open route with registration and breaks. Heavy rain or closure: cancel the forest portion and choose an open city museum.
Packed lunch and return
Eat in a permitted place, carry all waste out and leave by noon; allow 60–90 minutes back plus traffic margin.
Hotel recovery
No second major excursion is scheduled.
El Trapiche Vía Argentina dinner
Use the original branch’s daily evening service, allowing 30–60 minutes from a Casco base and a suitable ride home.
DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM
Four ways travelers exhaust Panama City.
Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.
Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.
Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.
Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
