Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
Castle history to a Minami dinner
Castle district → Namba → Dotonbori
Osaka Castle grounds
Allow 30–45 minutes across the park, then choose either the castle museum or nearby History Museum for the morning. The History Museum normally closes Tuesdays. Use a step-free approach if needed.
551 Horai in Namba
Allow 35–50 minutes for walking and Metro from the castle district; take a modest bun lunch or check the main-store restaurant. On its scheduled Tuesday closure, choose Wanaka and a confirmed seated lunch nearby.
Minami streets
Explore Shinsaibashi and Hozenji on foot after lunch; keep the afternoon in Minami. If the morning museum visit ran long, shorten this shopping walk.
Mizuno and Dotonbori
Have okonomiyaki, then a short canal walk. Chibo is a named alternative if the queue is excessive; allow waiting time, not another attraction.
02
Day 2
Riverfront art and a northern skyline
Nakanoshima → Umeda
Nakanoshima Museum of Art
Choose one exhibition; check Monday and changeover closures. On a closed day walk the river and swap the indoor visit with Day 4.
Musée KARATO lunch
Eat in the museum complex; its restaurant calendar is separate.
Nakanoshima riverfront
Walk toward the civic buildings, shortening the exposed route in heat or rain. Allow 30–45 minutes including stops.
Umeda Sky Building
Allow 30–45 minutes by local transit and walking from the riverfront, then choose the view only if visibility suits.
Harijyu Grill, Hanshin Umeda
The operator lists this department-store grill separately from Dotonbori; ask for a beef cutlet or current set. Stay in Umeda for the evening rather than crossing back for a photo.
Allow 25–40 minutes from Namba including the station walk; avoid the steep arched bridge if needed.
Daruma in Shinsekai
Allow 35–50 minutes to return north by rail and walk. Order skewers at the main store; it is walk-in.
Shinsekai to Tennoji Park
A 20–30-minute walk connects the district and park; use shorter level paths in heat. Tower admission is optional.
Wanaka in Sennichimae
Return toward Namba in roughly 20–30 minutes. A small takoyaki portion makes an early snack; choose a proper dinner according to appetite. In heavy rain shorten Shinsekai and use covered Namba shopping streets.
04
Day 4
An aquarium day with room to breathe
Tempozan → Namba
Travel to Osakako
Allow 40–55 minutes from Namba via the Chuo Line connection and the walk to Kaiyukan. This is not the former Expo fair.
Kaiyukan
Use a confirmed entry slot and allow 2½–3 hours. Ask the operator about lifts and the visitor route.
Tempozan meal break
Use the current Tempozan dining directory for an open seated option; keep the afternoon flexible rather than crossing to USJ.
Harijyu Dotonbori dinner
Return to Namba in roughly 40–55 minutes and reserve the Japanese dining room. On Tuesday choose Chibo instead. If aquarium tickets or weather disrupt the bay journey, replace it with the History Museum on an open day and keep this dinner.
DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM
Four ways travelers exhaust Osaka.
Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.
Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.
Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.
Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
