Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
Town, archaeology and the waterfront
Chora breakfast → lanes/Paraportiani → museum → Little Venice lunch → windmills → rest → dinner
Breakfast at Lalala
Allow an hour during its published morning service. The route assumes you are based in or near Chora; resort guests should add their transfer before breakfast.
Chora lanes and Paraportiani exterior
Walk through the town to Kastro, allowing 75 minutes for the harbour, lanes and church exterior. Skip exposed waterfront sections in rough weather.
Archaeological Museum
Allow 20–30 minutes across town and 15 minutes for entry, then spend 60–75 minutes inside. Tuesday closure: extend the old-harbour walk and use a longer café stop.
Lunch at Kastro’s
Walk 20–25 minutes back to Little Venice and reserve a 90-minute lunch. If seasonal service is unavailable, Lalala’s lunch menu is a central alternative after noon.
Windmills and a short waterfront circuit
Walk 10–15 minutes and spend up to an hour outside; this is not an interior windmill booking. In high wind, use sheltered lanes instead.
Hotel break
Allow 20–40 minutes to nearby accommodation; leave a longer transfer if staying at a resort.
Dinner at Mikri Avra
May–October walk-in dinner starts at 19:00 in Lakka. If closed or the wait is excessive, use a preconfirmed Bakaló booking later in the evening, or Lalala after confirming its kitchen. Outside the published season, arrange the evening meal before the day begins.
02
Day 2
Delos with a protected return
Town breakfast → Old Port → Delos → town lunch → rest → dinner
Breakfast at Lalala
Allow 45 minutes and leave by 08:45; buy water beforehand so the 20–30-minute harbour walk fits the 09:15 check-in. If breakfast cannot finish promptly, arrange an earlier accommodation meal.
Old Port check-in
Walk 20–30 minutes and follow the operator’s earlier meeting requirement if applicable. This plan uses a confirmed 10:00 sailing with a 13:30 departure from Delos, not a generic ferry timetable.
Sail to Delos
Allow about 30 minutes sailing plus disembarkation and admission. Wind cancellation: stay in town; use the Archaeological Museum if it is not Tuesday, or arrange an open Lena’s House window Monday–Saturday.
Selected Delos circuit
Allow roughly two hours for principal monuments and the museum according to current access. Keep 30–45 minutes to return to the dock before the 13:30 boat. Follow site rules, including no eating among the monuments; any snack should be taken beforehand or only where the operator permits.
Late lunch at Lalala
A 13:30 return sailing normally reaches Mykonos around 14:00; allow disembarkation and 20–30 minutes through town. Eat a full meal from the after-noon menu, moving lunch later if the boat is delayed.
Unscheduled rest
Return to your hotel and keep the afternoon free of tickets. A short evening walk is optional.
Dinner at Bakaló
Reserve its evening service and confirm the seasonal date. If closed, Mikri Avra is a May–October walk-in alternative; otherwise arrange Lalala or an accommodation dinner in advance.
03
Day 3
One south-coast beach, without island-wide hopping
Chora breakfast → Platis Gialos → coastal lunch → short walk → hotel → dinner
Breakfast at Lalala
Allow an hour; check the beach bus and the restaurant’s confirmed lunch service before leaving town.
Transfer to Platis Gialos
Allow 45–60 minutes including the walk to the correct bus stop, waiting and the road journey. Use a prebooked taxi if the dated bus service is too sparse.
Beach time
Spend up to 1 hour 45 minutes and leave the beach by 12:45, with swimming only if sea conditions and local guidance permit. Confirm sunbed charges before sitting; free beach access does not include equipment.
Lunch at Nikos Gallop
Allow 15–25 minutes from your beach spot and reserve a 90-minute lunch. If not operating, arrange Nikolas Tavern at Agia Anna/Paraga before departure and allow a 30–45-minute coastal transfer, making lunch 13:45. If neither confirms, return to town for Lalala at 14:00.
A short coastal walk or café pause
Keep this optional and within the area where you ate. Do not rely on an unconfirmed seasonal water taxi to connect more beaches. Skip the walk in wind or heat.
Return and hotel break
Allow 60–90 minutes including bus waiting or taxi pickup, then time to change and rest.
Dinner at Kastro’s
Reserve a confirmed seasonal dinner in town. If unavailable, use Mikri Avra during its May–October evening season or a prearranged Lalala meal.
04
Day 4
Inland village and a seasonal tasting
Town breakfast → Ano Mera → Rizes lunch → optional Vioma → Chora dinner
Breakfast at Lalala
Allow 45–60 minutes and confirm the day’s inland meal and return driver. If staying inland, a reserved Rizes breakfast can replace the town start.
Travel to Ano Mera
Allow 45–60 minutes with bus waiting or a booked driver. Check the actual return service; the farms are not simply on the village square.
Ano Mera and Tourliani setting
Spend one hour around the square and monastery, leaving by 11:45 for the lunch transfer and entering only when visitors are admitted. Services or closure: keep the exterior visit and café pause.
Lunch at Rizes
Allow 25–35 minutes for the local transfer and settle in for a reserved 90-minute meal. If lunch is not confirmed, leave the village around noon and return to Lalala in Chora for 13:30; omit the farm tasting rather than chase a closed kitchen.
Optional Vioma tasting
Only with a confirmed May–October reservation, not Wednesday. Allow 30–45 minutes from Rizes including arrival time; finish by 16:00 before the 16:30 close. Food here is a tasting accompaniment, not the day’s lunch, and no currently operating guided vineyard tour is promised. Closed day or winter: extend the meal and return to Chora.
Return and rest
Use a sober driver or confirmed transfer; allow 45–60 minutes to Chora and a hotel break before dinner.
Final dinner at Mikri Avra
Use the May–October walk-in evening service, allowing for a wait. A confirmed Bakaló dinner is the nearby alternative; after the seasonal restaurants close, arrange a town or accommodation meal before committing to the inland outing.
DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM
Four ways travelers exhaust Mykonos.
Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.
Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.
Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.
Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
