ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.

Day 1
Conditional mosque and opera-house introduction
Al Ghubrah → Shatti Al Qurum → hotel
Breakfast and conditions check
Saturday-start reference only. Reassess advisories, airline messages and local instructions; proceed only if travel remains appropriate and venues confirm operation.
Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque
Use the non-Muslim Saturday–Thursday morning window and confirmed entry arrangements; allow 75 minutes. Dress requirements apply. Friday or closure: omit and move a confirmed museum visit here.
Vehicle transfer to the opera precinct
Allow 30–45 minutes; do not attempt the cross-city walk.
Royal Opera House tour
Use the confirmed departure, allowing security and about an hour overall. A performance is a separate ticket; Friday tours are excluded by published policy.
Al Angham lunch
Reserve lunch at the opera precinct. If service is unavailable, leave by 12:15 for a confirmed 13:15 lunch at The Restaurant, The Chedi, allowing 45–60 minutes.
Keep the afternoon flexible for heat, fatigue or changes in local instructions.

Reserve only if local movement remains appropriate; allow 30–45 minutes from a Qurum base. Hotel dining at your own accommodation is the simplest fallback.
National Museum → palace exterior → Bait Al Zubair
Hotel breakfast
Confirm museums, café and driver before leaving; daily security instructions override this reference schedule.
Travel to Old Muscat
Allow 45–60 minutes from Qurum or Al Ghubrah, more if local traffic advice requires.
National Museum
Allow two hours within the currently published daily calendar; postpone if operation is disrupted.
Al Alam Palace exterior
Allow 20 minutes in permitted public space only, then a short vehicle transfer or suitable local walk.
Zafran Café lunch
Confirm café service beforehand and allow an hour. If unavailable, bring a hotel-prepared meal and use a permitted eating area; do not assume museum food service.
Allow 90 minutes. The museum currently closes Friday; on a Friday use only the National Museum if confirmed open and shorten the day.
Return to the hotel
Allow up to an hour and keep the evening close to your base.
Kargeen or your hotel's dinner
Book Kargeen in Madinat Sultan Qaboos only after it confirms current service and your driver confirms the transfer; otherwise dine at your accommodation.
Allow up to an hour to your hotel. A Daymaniyat outing would replace this entire day only after a separate advisory, permit, maritime-safety and operator check; no landing is allowed May–October.
Dinner at your accommodation or The Restaurant
Choose the closest confirmed service. Keep departure-day flight contingency time separate from sightseeing.
