THE ROUTE VERDICT

Realistic itineraries
in Mendoza.

Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.

ROUTING LOGIC

Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.

01
Day 1

City context before wine country

Centro → Área Fundacional → San Martín park → Centro

  1. Anna Bistró breakfast

Start at the Juan B. Justo branch and leave time for a proper meal.

  2. Central plazas

Walk around Plaza Independencia and selected neighboring streets for an hour.

  3. Área Fundacional

Allow 20–30 minutes by vehicle and an hour in the museum after confirming opening. If closed, use the plaza and return early for lunch.

  4. La Marchigiana Centro lunch

Allow 20–30 minutes back to Patricias Mendocinas and use confirmed lunch service; Anna is the daily alternative.

  5. San Martín park

Allow 20–30 minutes to the selected entrance; spend 90 minutes on a modest lower-park route, then return to rest.

  6. Azafrán dinner

Use a confirmed reservation; if Sunday or unavailable, Anna provides a daily dinner alternative. Keep lunch modest if choosing a long tasting menu.

02
Day 2

The nearer Maipú wine district

Mendoza → Trapiche → Casa Vigil → Mendoza

  1. Hotel breakfast

Eat before tasting and confirm the driver’s complete return arrangement.

  2. Depart for Trapiche

Allow 45–75 minutes to Coquimbito plus check-in; the actual booked tour time controls departure.

  3. Reserved Trapiche visit

Allow about 90 minutes. If no compatible morning tour exists, choose a later estate visit with Espacio Trapiche lunch instead.

  4. Casa Vigil Chachingo lunch

Allow 30–45 minutes between estates plus arrival margin. Reserve a Wednesday–Sunday lunch and allow up to 3 hours including any included visit. Monday/Tuesday: book Espacio Trapiche if service is confirmed, or swap with Day 3.

  5. Return to Mendoza

Budget 45–75 minutes, then rest; no third winery is added.

  6. A light Anna dinner

Use daily evening service only if hungry after the long lunch; a simple meal near the hotel also works.

03
Day 3

One Luján estate with time to eat

Mendoza → Lagarde → optional Chacras de Coria → Mendoza

  1. Breakfast and pickup

Eat at the hotel and allow 45–75 minutes to Mayor Drummond, plus check-in.

  2. Lagarde reserved visit

Use the actual tour slot; allow 90 minutes and time to settle before lunch.

  3. Fogón lunch

Daily lunch starts 12:30 at review; reserve and allow up to 3 hours. Zonda is an alternative booking, not a second lunch.

  4. Optional Chacras village pause

Only if lunch ends by 15:30, allow 20–30 minutes by road and a short walk. Otherwise return directly to the hotel.

  5. City return

Allow 45–75 minutes from the village or the estate, with rush-hour margin.

  6. La Marchigiana Centro dinner

Confirm evening service and appetite; Anna is the daily fallback. Keep the meal lighter after the estate lunch.

04
Day 4

Uco Valley as its own full day

Mendoza → Salentein → Mendoza

  1. Breakfast before the longer drive

Eat at the hotel and carry water and a layer for the valley.

  2. Depart with a reserved driver

Allow 2–2.5 hours including margins to Los Árboles. Do not add a nearer winery en route.

  3. Salentein booked tour or art visit

Reserve a compatible slot and language; the operator’s tour calendar differs from daily restaurant service. If no tour is available, confirm art access or move the day.

  4. Restaurante Salentein lunch

Reserve within its 12:00–15:00 service and allow the agreed menu duration, typically 2–3 hours. No other distant lunch is scheduled.

  5. Return to Mendoza

After any short confirmed gallery visit, budget 2–2.5 hours back and more in adverse conditions.

  6. Simple city dinner

Anna offers a confirmed daily evening option; do not put a non-refundable early dinner immediately after the mountain-road return.

DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM

Four ways travelers exhaust Mendoza.

Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.

Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.

Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.

Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
