Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
Royal core and north-bank food
South-bank hotel → Imperial City → citadel lunch → Dong Ba → south bank
Hotel breakfast and operating notices
Confirm the Imperial City’s current opening, weather and ticket categories; retain a different day if a ceremony, works or severe weather closes it.
Transfer and entry buffer
Protect 30–45 minutes for a licensed ride, entry queue and the correct gate; do not assume your hotel is beside the entrance.
Imperial City
Give a selected circuit 3 hours. Ask for the shortest workable threshold/step route; take shaded breaks and omit closed buildings.
Protect 20–30 minutes for the actual exit and short ride to 02 Doan Thi Diem, then 75 minutes for cakes and a seated meal. If not operating, ask Carambole about a confirmed table.
Choose a dry public section and a safe marked crossing; return by taxi if tired or raining.
02
Day 2
Two contrasting southern tombs
Center → Minh Mang → Khai Dinh → Thuy Bang lunch → center
Breakfast and driver confirmation
Confirm both tomb admissions and your stair tolerance. If a site is closed, swap this entire day with Day 3; never assume a bundled ticket overrides closure.
Drive to Minh Mang
Allow 45–60 minutes with traffic and entry; agree the waiting and return arrangement.
Minh Mang Tomb
Protect 90 minutes plus water/rest; the royal burial enclosure is not promised open. Ask for the manageable circuit.
If An Hien has confirmed a morning window, allow a 15-minute road transfer and 60-minute visit at that exact time. Otherwise keep a shaded rest and go directly to the booked meal.
Protect 20–30 minutes to the confirmed 104/47 Kim Long entrance and 90 minutes for service. An An Hien afternoon appointment belongs after this meal only if the whole return remains comfortable.
Confirm Tu Duc admissions and monastery visitor access. If a religious observance restricts Tu Hieu, keep the tomb and lunch; a ceremony is not a tourist show.
Transfer to Tu Duc
Protect 30–45 minutes by road plus entry. Ask your driver to remain available rather than relying on an empty roadside rank.
Tu Duc Tomb
Allow 2 hours with shaded breaks; shorten uneven paths and omit closed rooms.
Protect 20–30 minutes by road; continue only if the monastery welcomes visitors at this time.
Tu Hieu only if welcomed
Allow 45–60 minutes on the permitted grounds; ask about thresholds and paths and keep quiet. If religious access is restricted, go directly to the confirmed lunch.
Allow 30–45 minutes back. Keep Vong Canh as a separate optional viewpoint, not an obligation after lunch. A same-day departure requires a fresh transfer buffer.
Carambole final dinner
Reserve 32 Dang Tran Con and allow 30 minutes for the river crossing; request a suitable dining level. If already tired, keep a confirmed hotel meal instead.
