Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
Central’s layers and the harbour
Sheung Wan → Central → The Peak → Tsim Sha Tsui
Man Mo Temple and Hollywood Road
Spend 30 minutes at the temple, then walk 15–20 minutes toward Tai Kwun while respecting worship and private shop spaces.
Tai Kwun
Use heritage exhibits and courtyards for 90 minutes; if a gallery is closed, the surrounding Hollywood Road route still works.
Yat Lok lunch and Tai Cheong tart
Allow 10–15 minutes between nearby Central streets and enough time for the restaurant queue.
The Peak
Allow 45–75 minutes to reach the upper area including transport queues. Walk a short Lugard Road section only in suitable conditions; skip the hill if cloud or warnings make it pointless.
Mak’s Noodle and Star Ferry
Return to Central for a light noodle dinner, then allow 20–30 minutes to reach the ferry pier. Cross to Tsim Sha Tsui and finish with a short waterfront walk.
02
Day 2
One major museum and Jordan’s kitchens
Jordan → West Kowloon → Jordan
Australia Dairy Company
Use a quick breakfast; if it is closed, choose another open Parkes Street café rather than delay the museum slot.
M+ or Hong Kong Palace Museum
Allow 35–50 minutes from Jordan by a mix of walking and transport. Pick M+ for visual culture or HKPM for Chinese art. M+ normally closes Monday; HKPM normally closes Tuesday.
A museum-district lunch break
Eat at an open museum restaurant or bring a picnic for a permitted Art Park area; allow an hour rather than booking a distant lunch.
Finish the chosen museum and Art Park
Use another 60–90 minutes for galleries and the waterfront. Do not automatically buy both museum admissions for one afternoon.
Mak Man Kee and Temple Street
Allow 30–45 minutes back to Jordan, eat on Parkes Street and take a brief market walk. Severe weather means an indoor dinner and no exposed park walk.
03
Day 3
Neighborhood food and a garden
Sham Shui Po → Prince Edward → Diamond Hill / Wong Tai Sin
Sham Shui Po streets
Browse fabric, everyday shops and public streets without entering private workshops; use Kung Wo for tofu pudding.
One Dim Sum in Prince Edward
Allow 20–30 minutes by foot or MTR and a separate queue buffer; order a few dishes rather than a large banquet.
Chi Lin Nunnery and Nan Lian Garden
Allow 35–50 minutes across Kowloon by MTR and walking. Spend around two hours and follow camera rules.
Chui Wo Lee dinner
Allow 20–35 minutes to the Wong Tai Sin meal location, confirming the branch and current service. If garden access closes in a storm, substitute indoor neighborhood shopping and an earlier meal.
04
Day 4
A conditional coastal hike
Shau Kei Wan → Dragon’s Back → Big Wave Bay → Wan Chai
Weather decision and supplies
Check HKO warnings and the AFCD trail guidance. Take breakfast, packed lunch, water, sun protection and an offline maintained-route map. Do not start in thunderstorm or unsafe heat conditions.
Transfer through Shau Kei Wan
Allow 60–90 minutes from central lodging including MTR, the onward bus and trailhead wait. Confirm the correct To Tei Wan stop and return plan.
Dragon’s Back to Big Wave Bay
Allow roughly 4–6 hours on the selected full route with breaks and a packed lunch. Turn back or shorten only on a mapped maintained route; do not improvise a shortcut.
Return to the Island urban area
Allow 60–90 minutes or more including bus waits, then rest before dinner. Sea conditions and lifeguard status are separate checks; finishing at a beach does not imply a swim.
Kam’s Roast Goose, Wan Chai
Use the Hennessy Road restaurant for a simple roast-meat dinner if energy permits; confirm opening. If the hike is cancelled, use the second West Kowloon museum on an open day and keep the meal near your hotel.
