Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
The Alhambra and lower centre
Breakfast → Alhambra complex → Realejo → central dinner
Café Fútbol breakfast
Eat before the hill visit. Allow 45–60 minutes afterward for the current bus or taxi route, entry checks and walking to the required entrance.
Alhambra visit
This is a planning block, not a promised Nasrid time. Reserve the real palace slot and reshape the morning around it; limit this morning route to four hours, including rests and a snack, to leave time for lunch. A five-hour visit needs a later meal confirmed in advance.
Los Manueles lunch
Allow 30–45 minutes downhill by the chosen route and confirm the central branch's lunch service. If your palace slot is afternoon, eat first and reverse these two blocks.
Realejo and Corral del Carbón
Take a short lower-city walk after a rest. Enter the courtyard only if open; do not add another steep hill.
Central dinner
Use Bodegas Castañeda if its current service and crowd suit you, or return to a confirmed central restaurant. Without a Nasrid ticket, visit only your purchased Alhambra areas and add the cathedral on a suitable opening day.
02
Day 2
Cathedral history and the opposite hill
Cathedral district → Plaza Nueva → upper Albaicín
Cathedral and Royal Chapel
Check separate cultural opening sessions and allow about two hours including entry gaps. On a Sunday morning or during worship, walk the centre first and visit in an available afternoon session.
Los Diamantes lunch
Walk 10–15 minutes to Plaza Nueva and allow time for the no-reservation queue and a proper meal.
Rest, then travel uphill
Use the current local bus or taxi route toward the upper Albaicín, allowing 30–45 minutes including the last walk. Avoid the hottest climbing period.
Albaicín and San Nicolás
Walk small squares and the viewpoint for 90 minutes at your pace; use lower routes if steps or weather make the hill unsuitable.
Mirador de Morayma dinner
Reserve a serving time and allow 20–30 minutes to find the correct hillside approach. If unavailable, use Aben Humeya with a confirmed reservation or descend for central food.
03
Day 3
Sacromonte and the Darro
Transport uphill → cave museum → riverside lunch → lower Albaicín
Reach Sacromonte
Allow 45 minutes from the centre including the final incline; carry water and breakfast beforehand.
Cave Museum
Spend 60–90 minutes with the interpreted dwellings. If closed or the approach is unsuitable, retain a shorter public neighborhood walk and return to the lower city.
Descend with a margin
Allow 45–60 minutes down toward Paseo de los Tristes, longer with stops or use transport where suitable.
Ruta del Azafrán lunch
Reserve its actual lunch session and take a full break. If unavailable, continue 15–20 minutes to Los Diamantes Plaza Nueva.
Darro and quieter lanes
Keep this a short river-level walk with a café stop. An optional separately booked flamenco performance is an evening replacement, not included in cave-museum admission.
Confirm the morning session and allow an hour. If the monastery is unavailable, start with an unhurried central breakfast and keep the later northbound route.
Travel to Cartuja
Allow 30–45 minutes by bus or taxi and visit for roughly 75 minutes, checking any split opening hours.
Bar FM lunch
Reserve first, then allow 30–40 minutes from Cartuja to Avenida Juan Pablo II by an appropriate route. If lunch is unavailable, return to Los Manueles in the centre.
Lower-city rest
Return with 30–45 minutes of transport margin and finish with a café rather than another hill. Alternatively replace the whole morning with Parque de las Ciencias and lunch nearby; normally avoid Monday, and on Sunday use its shorter opening day.
Final meal at your pace
Choose a confirmed central restaurant or a reserved Aben Humeya dinner with uphill transport. Do not add the science park after the northern museum sequence.
DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM
Four ways travelers exhaust Granada.
Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.
Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.
Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.
Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
