Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
The central coast and its art
Broadbeach → Surfers Paradise → HOTA
Breakfast at Elk Espresso
Allow a walk-in wait, then take a short Kurrawa foreshore walk.
Tram to Surfers Paradise
Allow 30–45 minutes including walking and waiting, then explore the foreshore.
SkyPoint and bistro lunch
Choose the deck only with worthwhile visibility and confirmed access; eat a full lunch. If closed, transfer early to HOTA Cafe when serving, or return to Elk before its 14:00 kitchen close.
Transfer to HOTA
Allow 20–35 minutes by taxi or longer by the dated public-transport route.
HOTA Gallery
Choose current exhibitions for roughly 90 minutes. Check any ticketed show separately.
Return and rest
Avoid another long outing; storms mean taking a direct vehicle to accommodation.
Local dinner plan
If you want a named destination, reserve The Tropic and leave your hotel 45–60 minutes before the confirmed sitting; otherwise arrange a full meal near your accommodation.
02
Day 2
Burleigh and the estuary
Paddock Bakery → Burleigh Head → Burleigh lunch → Tallebudgera
Paddock Bakery breakfast
Use the Burleigh branch and eat before walking.
Transfer to the headland
Allow 20–35 minutes including parking or the last walk.
Burleigh Head walk
Choose an open track and turn back if conditions or access are unsuitable.
Rick Shores lunch
Reserve in advance; on Monday or if unavailable use a confirmed The Tropic lunch nearby.
Tallebudgera shore
Allow 20–30 minutes to reach a suitable public access point. Walking is the default; swimming depends on patrols, tides and signs.
Return and rest
If rough weather closes outdoor areas, move the HOTA day here.
Dinner at The Tropic
Book only if not already used for lunch; otherwise reserve Fat Tomato at The Collective and allow 25–40 minutes south.
03
Day 3
One hinterland sector
Burleigh → Springbrook plateau → coast
Breakfast and provisions at Paddock
Arrange substantial takeaway lunch and enough water before departure; keep perishables chilled.
Drive to Springbrook
Allow roughly 90–120 minutes with winding-road and parking margins; a booked driver or guided trip is an alternative.
Choose an open short plateau walk
Use the official map and morning alerts, with footwear suitable for wet ground. Do not add Natural Bridge or Lamington.
Packed Paddock lunch
Stop at a permitted picnic area; carry all rubbish out.
One further accessible lookout
Choose only an open approach within your ability; abandon extra walking if weather deteriorates.
Return drive
Allow up to two hours and finish the winding roads in daylight. Swap with Day 1 if severe weather or closures make the trip unsuitable.
Fat Tomato dinner
Reserve The Collective after resting; the substantial meal closes the active day.
04
Day 4
A southern wildlife day
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary → Palm Beach
Breakfast at your accommodation
Allow enough time for a full meal before the southern transfer.
Travel to Currumbin
From Broadbeach allow 45–60 minutes by car including arrival; use a longer dated bus allowance if needed.
Sanctuary visit
Follow the actual daily programme; no particular animal interaction is promised. April 25 or December 25 requires swapping the day.
Wild Burgers lunch
Eat a burger or bowl; if that outlet is closed, use the listed Sanctuary Cafe or The Homestead after confirming service.
Finish the habitats you selected
Allow a slower afternoon rather than rushing every show.
Return or a short coastal pause
Choose an easy public foreshore walk only if the weather permits, then rest.
Fat Tomato at The Collective
Palm Beach is a practical dinner stop; allow 20–30 minutes from Currumbin or a separate hotel transfer. If wildlife entry is unavailable, use a coastal day or book Movie World as a separate full-day replacement after checking its calendar.
DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM
Four ways travelers exhaust Gold Coast.
Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.
Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.
Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.
Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
