Days that respect geography, energy, opening hours, crowd pressure, and the pleasure of not rushing.
ROUTING LOGIC
Times are suggested planning windows, including the travel buffers described below. Reorder whole days for museum closures, weather, and confirmed reservations. For a shorter visit, use the first day or first two days; extensions and alternatives are labeled.
01
Day 1
An Ubud day that stands alone
Central Ubud → Campuhan edge → Pengosekan → central dinner. Begin after an Ubud overnight; this is not an airport-arrival schedule.
Ubud Palace and nearby streets
Spend about an hour in the permitted courtyards and nearby lanes. Ceremony restrictions mean a shorter exterior visit, not pressure to enter private areas.
Murni’s Warung lunch
Walk roughly 20–30 minutes west with pavement interruptions, or take a short ride. Order nasi campur; confirm opening before setting out. Nusantara is a central lunch alternative Tuesday–Sunday.
ARMA Museum
Allow 20–40 minutes by car from the Campuhan side in traffic, then a relaxed art visit. If a museum closure intervenes, keep a shorter central craft-and-café afternoon.
Hotel rest
Return by car and leave the hot part of the afternoon unscheduled.
Hujan Locale dinner
Reserve and allow traffic time for Jl Sri Wedari. For children under 12 or no reservation, book Nusantara dinner instead.
02
Day 2
The temple landscape north of Ubud
Ubud → Tampaksiring → Ubud. Day 2 adds a living temple and an optional forest visit to Day 1.
Breakfast and driver pickup
Eat at your accommodation before a 45–75-minute drive. Agree the return and avoid unsolicited shop stops.
Tirta Empul
Allow 1½–2 hours, follow attendants and choose observation or a properly explained ritual. If sacred access is restricted, use the exterior areas permitted and return earlier.
Nusantara lunch
Allow 45–90 minutes back to Ubud. Monday lunch is closed: use Murni’s Warung after confirming service, or shift Nusantara to dinner.
Monkey Forest or rest
A short ride south reaches the sanctuary; stay clear of animal contact. If rain, ranger restrictions or mobility make it unsuitable, keep a seated afternoon and central shopping.
Nusantara dinner or Locavore NXT
Choose one dinner. NXT requires a reserved tasting experience and transport to its separate outskirts location; this is not the old central restaurant.
03
Day 3
Move to the east coast
Campuhan → Ubud check-out → north Sanur → Sanur hotel and promenade. This is a transfer day.
Short Campuhan walk
Walk only as far as comfortable after daylight; skip in heavy rain or on slippery paths. Breakfast back at your accommodation.
Check out and drive to Sanur
Budget roughly 1½–3 hours for the road journey, with more in severe congestion. Keep luggage with your arranged vehicle and avoid adding a west-coast detour.
Warung Mak Beng lunch
Use the north Sanur address for fish, soup and rice. Arrival time may slide with traffic; carry water and a snack for the transfer.
Check-in and a short promenade section
Rest first, then walk near the hotel. Rain or difficult beach access makes a sheltered café a sensible substitute.
Massimo dinner
Reserve seated dining on Jl Danau Tamblingan; allow a short local ride if your hotel is at the other end of Sanur.
04
Day 4
A deliberate southern outing
Sanur → Uluwatu → Jimbaran → Sanur. Add this to Days 1–3; do not pair it with a tightly timed flight.
Breakfast and departure
Eat before leaving; allow roughly 1½–2½ hours to Pecatu depending on traffic. A severe-weather day stays in Sanur instead.
Uluwatu Temple
Visit the permitted cliff paths before the main sunset rush. Secure loose items around monkeys and choose a shorter route if steps are difficult.
Cuca lunch in Jimbaran
Allow 45–75 minutes from Uluwatu and reserve lunch. Take time for tapas rather than adding a distant beach.
Return to Sanur
Allow roughly 1–2 hours, then rest. If Kecak is your priority, replace this morning schedule with a later departure and confirm show tickets, temple admission and a late return.
Final Sanur dinner
Massimo offers a known seated fallback; choose a different pasta or pizza rather than driving across the island for another restaurant.
DO NOT BREAK THE RHYTHM
Four ways travelers exhaust Bali.
Crossing town for every mealA good nearby table beats the famous reservation that breaks the day.
Stacking major institutionsTwo famous doors do not guarantee two meaningful visits.
Ignoring the hotel resetA real break protects the evening that mattered enough to reserve.
Treating travel time as emptyThe route, street, train, river, or view can be part of the city—not an inconvenience.
