Art, architecture, markets and tea.
Museum travelers, families who want an indoor science day, design-minded visitors and eaters who like seated tea-house meals as much as night-market snacks.

The coastal wetlands and Wufeng earthquake museum need their own transport blocks; they are not quick add-ons to a downtown afternoon.
Use two days for central markets, museums and the western evening circuit. Add Wufeng and a weather-dependent coastal outing only with more time. Taichung rewards tea-house pauses and district discipline more than a rapid tour of social-media backdrops.

The metro does not connect every visitor district. Buses, walks and taxis still matter, and the coast can consume most of an afternoon. Travelers needing step-free access should confirm the complete hotel-to-venue route.
Keep the center and West District together, the theater/Fengjia together, and Wufeng separate from Gaomei. Preserve a museum swap for Mondays and bad weather.
The market connects traditional foods to the old city, giving a stronger morning than a chain of isolated snack queues.
The collections and temporary exhibitions give a clear reason for an unhurried art-district day.
The corridor links cultural institutions and everyday public space, making transitions part of the trip.
Former audit-office dormitories now house small creative businesses; proximity to the fine-arts museum makes the detour efficient.
Choose a few galleries and give them time; this is a real indoor anchor rather than just a building to photograph.
The interior makes a distinctive architectural encounter; a chosen performance adds more purpose than a photo-only taxi journey.

Conventional rail, buses and taxis; HSR is at Wuri, not here. · $A balanced base for museums, parks and seated meals.
Frequent-road bus corridors and short taxis; walk chosen greenway sections. · $$Protects access to the science museum and broader commercial services.
Buses and taxis; check the hotel’s actual route to the museum. · $$Good for the theater, shopping and hotel-based comfort.
Metro may help selected trips; buses or taxis complete the final approach. · $$$The sensible introduction to the city’s tea-house tradition: sit down rather than treating the entire stop as a takeaway photo.
Choose it for adaptive reuse and a planned dessert near the railway, not as a full museum or an obligatory long queue.
A useful substantial lunch in the old core, with pork texture rather than elaborate presentation doing the work.
A good planned meal after the art district, especially when a group can share several preparations.
A more contained meal option near the greenway than a grand multi-dish banquet.
An intentional cuisine change beside the art district, rather than claiming all Taichung eating is Taiwanese street food.

HSR Taichung is in Wuri and connects with conventional rail/metro. Taichung conventional railway station serves the old center. Confirm both station name and last hotel transfer.
Verify current guidance ↗The Green Line does not directly serve every old-center, museum or coastal stop. Pair exact bus routes with short taxi transfers; do not assume one metro pass solves the full itinerary.
Verify current guidance ↗Check CWA wind, typhoon, rain and heat warnings before Gaomei. Indoor museums are useful substitutes only on their real opening days.
Verify current guidance ↗Use marked crossings, secure phones and bags in markets, follow earthquake instructions and never enter a closed wetland route. Review the current official advisory before departure.
Verify current guidance ↗National Taichung Theater lists accessible lifts, toilets, drop-off and wheelchair loans; contact it for seats/usher assistance. Market aisles, wetland paths and individual shop steps still need separate checks.
Verify current guidance ↗Choose the actual production, language/surtitles and accessible seat before paying. Group restaurant menus and allergy requests should be confirmed with the exact branch.
Verify current guidance ↗Science, fine arts and 921 museums normally close Monday. Swap whole days; do not string three closed venues together. Gallery 301 at NTMoFA has a separate maintenance notice.
Verify current guidance ↗Small market orders often work best with modest NT dollar notes. Larger restaurants may add service; inspect the bill before adding a discretionary tip rather than assuming a compulsory extra.
Verify current guidance ↗Chun Shui Tang original is 30 Siwei Street; Fu Din Wang Central is 560 Taiwan Boulevard. Similar pastry-store names are different businesses; use the source directory and current branch address.
Verify current guidance ↗Give each its own day block and confirmed return. Do not add the coast to the earthquake museum route to satisfy an attraction count.
